نشرت قبل عام قصتي مع هذا الكلب الصديق جداً.
يا له من كلب محظوظ، تصدرت القصة مجلات عربية وعالمية، وقرأها ما يزيد عن 5 ملايين انسان حول العالم،
وتُرجمت القصة إلى سبع لغات مختلفة.

وقتها تواصلتْ معي جمعية تعمل في مجال رعاية الحيوان،
من العاصمة الايرلندية "دبلن"، طلبوا الاطمئنان على صحة الكلب، وصوراً للخيمة التي نعيش فيها معاً ونحرسها معاً، أرسلت الصور، وحصلتُ بعدها على تعاطف كبير جداً ونادر للغاية، بحثوا معي بجدية امكانية اجلاء الكلب إلى خارج قطاع غزة عبر مؤسسات رديفة.

أرادوا حياة أفضل، ومكاناً أنظف، وسماء أوسع للكلب،
بينما لم يشِر أحدٌ إليّ،
أنا الذي كنت أعيش في خيمة لا تصلح لأن يعيش فيها كلب.

A year ago, I published the story of my friendship with this remarkably gentle dog.
What a lucky dog he was—
the story made its way into both Arab and international magazines,
read by over five million people around the world,
and translated into seven different languages.

Soon after, an animal welfare organization from Dublin, Ireland reached out.
They wanted to know if the dog was safe,
asked for photos of the tent we lived in together and guarded side by side.
I sent the photos—
and received an outpouring of sympathy, rare and overwhelming.
They began seriously exploring ways to evacuate the dog from Gaza
through partner organizations abroad.

They wanted a better life for him,
a cleaner place,
a wider sky.

No one, however,
thought to ask about me—
the one living in a tent
unfit even for a dog.
